Coalitions
Reviving Sisterhood believes in working toward collective liberation in coalition with other organizations, groups, and communities. Our partners and collaborators are Muslim, BIPOC, women, and other marginalized communities, fighting together to end Islamophobia, racism, and sexism.
Communities Combating Hate
Communities Combating Hate is a coalition advocating for policy change to make Minnesota safe for all Minnesotans, no exceptions. Every Minnesotan must be protected from hate, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, national origin, immigration status, ethnicity, or disability.
Asian Minnesotan Alliance for Justice
The Asian Minnesotan Alliance for Justice (AMAJ) was formed in reaction to the murder of George Floyd under police custody and the rise of anti-Asian racism due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a solidarity framework, AMAJ seeks to mend the social divides and fight the inequities that are both rooted in white supremacy and that are exacerbated by the pandemic.
Community Collaborative Initiative
RISE is participating in a 3-year research study conducted by Dr. Shariq Ahmed Siddiqui at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. It is funded through the budget of the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

Asian Minnesotan Alliance for Justice (AMAJ)
The Asian Minnesotan Alliance for Justice (AMAJ) was formed in reaction to the murder of George Floyd under police custody and the rise of anti-Asian racism due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic had been highlighting the disproportionately violent treatment of Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), the inherently unequal and inequitable nature of our society, and the overall racist nationalism growing in the US, just to name a few. Using a solidarity framework, AMAJ seeks to mend the social divides and fight the inequities that are both rooted in white supremacy and that are exacerbated by the pandemic. If you would like to support AMAJ, please donate here!
Core Planning Team
The Core Planning Team will guide the AMAJ in our overall vision and direction. They will coordinate our monthly meetings, support the growth of the alliance, develop internal structures and processes, and work to build knowledge and capacity of our member groups.
Defunding the Policing
This team will work primarily in solidarity with other BIPOC communities on work to defund the police. This includes work in Minneapolis around the People’s Budget, the community education and engagement process, and the ballot measure to change the charter. It also includes work in other areas throughout the Twin Cities that are working towards similar goals.
Combating Hate Against Asian Communities
This team will work towards combating the anti-Asian racism due to covid-19. The work includes supporting victims of hate, working towards better data collection, uplifting narratives, and working to pass hate crimes legislation at the state level.
Supporting Our Unsheltered
This will be a new team where we will work to explore how best to support our unsheltered communities through both mutual aid and policy.
Community Collaborative Initiative(CCI)
RISE is participating in a 3-year research study conducted by Dr. Shariq Ahmed Siddiqui at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. It is funded through the budget of the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
The purpose of this study is to understand the conditions necessary to assist nonprofit organizations to collaborate with other nonprofits. These nonprofits can be assisted in developing useful intra-sectoral collaborations with the assistance of neutral expert facilitators, nonprofit scholars, and leaders. RISE is part of a cohort with four other umbrella organizations including Minnesota Muslim Leaders Coalition, the Coalition of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, Indiana Muslim Alliance Network, and Muslim Alliance of Indiana.
Last year, we worked on mobilizing the Midwestern Muslim vote. This year, we are building relationships and focusing on COVID-19 education and vaccine distribution.
