Community Trainings: Available by Request
We know that sexual violence and anti-Blackness are realities in the lives of Muslim women and other marginalized community members. To address these oppressive systems, RISE offers trainings to the community by request. We bring in local Muslim women who are experts, educators, and dedicated advocates to equip attendees with the confidence, capacity, and power to show up for social change.
Combating Sexual Violence Trainings:
Reviving Sisterhood offers trainings to build awareness of sexual violence, spur dialogue, and share tools for supporting survivors. We aim to provide language, resources, and other tools to help our community address sexual violence, beginning with naming and identifying it as a problem. Trainings are led by Asma Nizami.
Challenging Anti-Blackness Trainings:
By following the Prophetic model, we are rooted in the Sunnah and reminded of the diversity of identities and how we show up. These workshops provide language, examples, tools, techniques and most importantly sisterhood in order to change a system. Trainings are led by sister Valerie Shirley.
