Wellness

At RISE, we believe that to effectively support others, we must first take care of ourselves. Life can be challenging, so we prioritize creating spaces for our sisters to rest and rejuvenate. We also empower them with knowledge to safeguard their spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. Explore the various events we've hosted to see how we foster this essential growth! We also want to extend a special invitation for you to join our Whatsapp group, where you can connect with our Sisterhood and stay up to date about future events and opportunities.

2024 Wellness Retreat

The inaugural Wellness Retreat offered a day of grounding and rejuvenation, creating a serene space for connection among our sisters. Attendees enjoyed insightful mental health journaling sessions led by Sukoon Healing of the Minds, while the Amanah Recreation Project guided participants on a refreshing hike through nature. Revitalizing yoga classes were provided by Nadia from Naturally Grounded Studio, complemented by rejuvenating cupping and massage treatments from Binta at Hijama Holistic Health. The day was uplifted by a spiritual talk from Ustadtha Kaltun Karani, inspiring everyone to reflect and grow. This retreat was a harmonious blend of wellness practices, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s gathering!

Confidence Building Workshop

RISE hosted a transformative confidence-building workshop with certified life coach Saniya Asiff. Designed to help women break through their learned helplessness, the session focused on the importance of mental health, identifying the root causes of physical and mental challenges, and providing strategies to develop positive routines that overcome negative habits.

Self Defense Workshop

We believe that every woman should be equipped with the skills to protect herself in dangerous situations, especially visibly Muslim women who may be targeted with harassment and hate crimes. RISE will be partnering with a self-defense coach to share lessons with our sisterhood on how to best protect ourselves when necessary.

Restorative Healing Circle

RISE, SNAP, and Sukoon partnered with clinical psychologist Dr. Abyan Bashir from Let’s Talk Healing on a five-session series about self-care and self-healing practices. In this series, Muslim women learned the different domains of self-care, discussed their implications on our mental health and overall well-being, and applied these lessons to their own lives and healing journeys.
